John Francis - Chapter 158

Monday, August 11, 2008 at 5:12 AM
It was close to seven that night when Linda told Amanda that dinner would be ready in about fifteen minutes. She had already called over the to the studio to let the guys know and Amanda and Susan helped by setting the table and filling water glasses. They heard the men coming in for dinner and as they were all laughing and joking, she assumed the session that day had been a good one.

Tico was talking about his flight early the next morning and that Richie had offered to drive him. He spoke again about how anxious he was to see his wife and son and Amanda told him she was looking forward to meeting them both at Dot’s wedding.

This was news to Susan and surprised she let slip out, “You’re going to Dot’s wedding?”

She was looking at Amanda as she spoke and Amanda gave her a smile and said that she and Dot had talked several times and had invited her to come with Jon. Susan’s surprise at this was expressed by her wide eyes.

The dinner conversation changed then and they started talking about going into New York City the following day after Richie got back from the airport. Jon threw in that they might all want to think about taking an overnight bag in case they were late as they could stay at his apartment there. Amanda blushed lightly as she had some very good memories of Jon’s apartment. Richie, as usual, had to tease.

“Ah, I see Jon’s already given you a tour of his little pad.”

Rolling her eyes at him, Amanda just scowled, “Sambora…I bet there’s a wooden spoon there too, ya know!”

This got everyone laughing and then even more so when the whole story had to be explained to Susan. She was amazed at her friend’s comfort level with these famous celebrities, but even she felt their naturalness and after her initial awe at being around them she was becoming comfortable too.

They watched a movie for a time while Tico did his little bit of packing and then he joined them. Listening to the three men throwing out lines to the movie they were watching were cracking the two women up. Somehow it seemed that “Blazing Saddles” was a favorite with everyone and they were all saying the lines before they the characters could. Richie kept throwing out accents, Jon was doing his best “Joisey” godfather impressions, and Tico kept up the Spanish one-liners that seemed hilarious only because some of the words could be understood. The evening ended with laughter and not a little silliness.

Amanda gave Tico a big hug and told him to pass it on to his wife and son as he would probably be gone before she was up the next morning. He gave Susan a kiss on the cheek and told her how nice it was to meet her. Tico, Jon and Amanda decided to call it a night, however, Richie and Susan were going to have another glass of wine. Cocking an eyebrow at Richie out of Susan’s sight, Amanda just gave him a look. He gave her a grin.

~~~
As they entered their room, Amanda put a hand on Jon’s arm. He turned to her, a questioning look in his eyes.
“Jon…Richie, Susan…” Amanda wasn’t really sure what she was trying to say as the two she was talking about were both grownups.
“Honey…they’re both adults…” Jon started.
“I know, hell, I don’t know what I’m saying, just ignore me, okay?” She shook her head, trying to dispel her worries.
Jon shook his head at her then. “Nope, not possible. This is one of the favorite parts of my day.” He moved her into the shower as he was speaking and proceeded to show her exactly why it was becoming one of her favorites times also.
~~~

Richie and Susan sat and talked for another hour. He enjoyed her humor and wit and the fact that she had gotten over who she was with and was just treating them like normal guys. He was a bit physically attracted to her, but although she was pretty and funny and nice to be with, he couldn’t make himself forget Amanda’s look as she was leaving the room. Damn! Now she’s got ME watching myself around her!

Susan was enjoying spending time with Richie and loved hearing his stories and laughter, but her own attraction was leaning towards a friendship as she was receiving no signals other than that of a friend from him. She was glad in a way as she had never been a one-nighter for anyone and wasn’t sure she wanted the best friend of her best friend’s boyfriend to be the first, even if that friend was Richie Sambora. They finished their glass of wine and giving each other a quick hug, they went to the separate rooms.

~~~
Richie and Tico were gone from the house by six the next morning as Tico’s flight was at 8:30. Amanda woke first, stretching and feeling Jon pressed up against her. He wasn’t quite awake yet, but she could tell it was morning just from the feel of him. Feeling a little wicked herself, she shifted against him, wiggling until she felt him press further against her and chuckle lightly in her ear.
“So…you like mornings too, hmmm?”
She simply shifted to allow him entry to her warmth and he took full advantage of her willingness. Curling his arm around the front of her allowed him to hold her breast and she pressed that part of herself into him too. Her cries were soft and she shuddered against him with her orgasm, her spasms causing him to spill inside her. His moans were muffled in her hair. They held each other, falling back asleep within moments.
Susan had woken up around 7:30 that morning and saw she was the first one up. She went downstairs, expecting to have to put the coffee on, but Linda had beat her to it. She grabbed a cup and they started the small talk women are always capable of. Susan told her about where she and Amanda lived in Florida and their friendship, but soon they both found themselves talking just about Amanda.
Smiling at Linda, Susan said to her, “She’s pretty great, isn’t she? We’ve been friends for so long. It’s amazing to see her smile again the way she is. It was so bad after Jeremy was killed that we were all worried about her.”
“It sounds like she had a really good marriage. It must have been such a shock to lose him that way.” Linda responded.
“They did have a great marriage. I think they were one of the few couples I have ever known who really shared their lives together. It does make this whole thing with Jon a little difficult to understand though…” Susan said the last almost to herself.
Linda looked at her. “What do you mean, Susan?”
“Huh? Oh…um, just it’s a bit out of Amanda league, I guess.” Susan struggled a little with what she was saying.
“You worried about her?” Linda looked at Susan with a knowing look in her eyes.
“Yeah, I guess I am a little. I don’t want her hurt again, Linda, but I won’t try to influence her. She’s a grown woman and she deserves to be happy. He’ll be singing soprano though, if he hurts her.” Susan grumbled with a smile.
“I don’t think you need to worry about that. Jon’s never brought anyone here and well, he seems pretty attached to her.” Linda tried to get her point across diplomatically, but Susan caught it and grinned.
“Yes, ma’am, he does seem rather ‘fond’ of her.” They both laughed and then were startled to hear the front door open and footsteps heading toward the kitchen.
“Well, good morning ladies.” Richie’s voice was cheerful as he’d had drive-thru coffee on his way back from dropping Tico at the airport.
He still moved immediately to the pot and grabbed a cup. He gave Susan a quick kiss on the cheek and winked at her and then moved to do the same to Linda. She fended him off with a laugh.
“That Sambora charm doesn’t work on me. Haven’t you learned that yet?” She grinned at him and shook her finger.
“Hey, I’m just trying to get some breakfast!”
“I know, you and your stomach. Breakfast will be ready in a half hour, so settle in with your coffee and let me get busy!” Richie threw up his hands in defeat and sat down next to Susan. “
“So, anything special you want to see in the city today?”
Susan frowned. “Well, not the usual tourist spots, but things that would give me a good overview of what New York has to offer, I guess.” She laughed then, “Not sure that helped much, but that’s the best description I can come up with now!”
Jon wandered downstairs, hearing laughter from the kitchen. He walked in, smiling his good mornings as his day had started rather well. “What’s up guys?”
“We were talking about what to do and see in the city,” Richie supplied. “Susan wants a good idea of what’s available, but not the usual tourist spots.”
“I think we can manage that. Hell, it’s not like we’ve never been there before!” Jon grinned that famous grin of his and Susan felt herself smiling back. It seemed impossible not to smile when Jon did.
“Mands still sleeping?” She asked Jon.
“Mands?” He grinned again, “Yeah, she’s still sleeping, but I’m sure we can get her going soon, especially if I bring her up a coffee.” He got one ready for her and left the room.
“Richie, I know you’re Jon’s friend, but will you answer a question for me?” Her face was serious and she spoke quietly although Linda was not in the kitchen at that moment.
“Sure, if I can.”
“He treating her right?” She asked bluntly.
“Yes, he is. They’re still learning each other, but yeah, he treats her right.” He looked seriously at her now.
“How come you didn’t ask about how she was treating him?”
She laughed softly. “I didn’t have to. She treats everyone right. She’s probably one of the nicest people I know. Not a pushover, don’t get me wrong, but she always gives someone the benefit of the doubt first.”
Richie nodded at her. “I’ve noticed that about her. She’s real, ya know?”
“Sure I know. When I went through my divorce, she was my rock. When she lost Jeremy, well, it hurt just seeing how badly she was hurting.” She paused, then cocked her head at Richie. “Jon’s not a stupid man, is he?”
Laughing a little at the question, Richie answered, “No, stubborn, controlling, a perfectionist, and a few other choice words, but stupid, that one’s pretty far down on the list.” Looking at her, he slitted his eyes in question. “Why?”
“Well, because if he doesn’t realize what he’s managed to find in Amanda then I think you need to put stupid at the top of that list!” She grinned at him, but she knew he got her message.
“Sweetie, I don’t think either of us need to worry about that!”
Shaking her head a little, Susan just muttered, “We’ll see, Sambora, we’ll just see.”
    Well, I'm glad to see that Susan genuinely cares for Amanda and I'd be uspicious too if we hadn't seen the relationship from the inside. But I can't believe she is only thinking of richie as a friend! Personally, though, I think Richie can do a bit better as Susan sounds a bit like a stick in the mud if she doesn't appreciate his charm any more than she seems to! Hey Sun, I'm still available now, remember, LOL!
    Opester posted nearly the same thing that I was going to post.
    I love Susan's loyalty for her friend and how much both she and also Richie want what's best for their friends.
    Great chapter Sun!
  5. Kay Says:
    I think Susan is attracted to Richie but keeping her distance because she thinks Richie thinks of her as only a friend because Amanda gave him a silent 'warning'.
    Am I making sense or do I need more coffee?
    Susan and Richie seem to be hitting it off as friends, you can never have too many friends. No Susan you don't have to worry about Amanda, Jon is going to keep her.
